Disciple-making in the North
Overview: The missionary understands what a mature follower of Christ looks and acts like within their cultural context. The missionary seeks to help believers “obey all that Christ has commanded” in a way that is appropriate within their community, and does not attempt to reproduce cultural ideals from the missionary's home culture. The missionary understands the priority of lifestyle dicsipleship (ie. “lets live life together”) over didactic instruction (ie. “sit down while I tell you how to do this”). Missionaries will understand and practice storytelling and one point sermons in their effort to help local believers follow Jesus. The missionary will help local believers understand the importance of a personal relationship with God, Scripture, personal holiness, and regular fellowship with a Christ centered fellowship. Missionaries will seek to help local followers of Jesus understand their gifts, serve the Church, and also be involved in making disciples themselves. Missionaries will be aware of basic counseling skills and resources.
