MOP Daily Announcements
- Welcome MOP July 2014 Appointees! We are looking forward to your arrival on July 6. Supper will be served at 5:30pm in the MEC followed by a brief gathering in the IO Training Room. Kids will head to the MK Childcare Program at that time.
- Monday July 7
- Ladies…tomorrow night (Tuesday) there will be a dessert night at Marcie's home at 6:30. Dad's will have the joy of caring for the kids during your time off-campus. We will enjoy and ice cream bar, learn some of what is happening in the Women's Ministry of SEND, and enjoy some fellowship around the fire pit. Our evening will be wrapped up by 9:30 unless you need to head back to campus earlier.
- Harrington Family and Friesen Family…can you complete your data worksheets as soon as possible and send them to Ann Baur (mailto:abaur@send.org). Thanks!
- Spiritual Formation documents from Carl's sessions will be posted on the Wiki site on Wednesday morning after he is finished with his last session.

- There is a MOP reading list to be completed before you leave for the field. Check out the reading assignments below.

- Tomorrow is the first day of testimonies. We will start at 11:30. Please do your best to stay within your time frame (10 minutes for couples, 5 minutes for individuals). The home office staff loves to hear what God has been doing in your lives. Thanks for sharing! (not that you had a choice)
- Wednesday, July 9
- HAPPY 30TH TO CHRIS HARRINGTON!!
- Ladies…handouts from Dorothy regarding the Women's Ministry Development are on the back table in the training room. When she gets back from the wedding and I can get the electronic copies I will post them here.
- Tomorrow we will take a MOP photo right after chapel. We will meet at the rocks beside the MEC and take a few pictures before eating lunch. Remember to grab your kids for the picture!
- Thursday, July 10
- Today is MOP Picture Day! Right after chapel please gather the kids and meet at the rocks and big tree outside the MEC. We will head to lunch after the pictures are taken.
- Tomorrow all security documents will be notarized during the lunch hour. We will have 2 notaries there at 2 separate tables and will have you take turns meeting with them for signatures. REMINDER: please bring some form of photo ID with you. Thanks!!
- Saturday we are having a picnic at a local park. This park is on a lake and has a splash park for kids and a water slide for a fee. We will have a number of group games available (Kubb, Mulke, Life-Size 9 Square) as well as 4 kayaks available and a wind-surfer with instructor. Friday, July 11
- Saturday 11:00-4:30 - MOP/International Office picnic at Kensington Park
- Saturday evening meal is on your own. There will be leftovers in the kitchen and Bertha will give you the details of what is available.
- Sunday - ethnic church visits. Assignments are on the back table of the training room. If you have not heard from the IO staff member attending with you please let me know as soon as possible.
- Sunday evening meal is in the MEC with an ethnic church debrief after dinner until 7:30pm.
- Tuesday July 15 is the Muslim Community visit to Hamtramack. Ladies, please wear long pants, long sleeves and have a scarf available to cover your head. If you need to borrow something to wear please let Marcie know as soon as possible. Lunch will be at a local Bengali restaurant. Ramadan is currently being observed which will add an extra element of uniqueness to this visit. Kids will be in childcare the full day with the childcare team and Bertha will make a kid-friendly meal for them.
- Monday, July 14
- Tonight the guys will go out to a local ice cream favorite with Ron Hardy. Plan on meeting him at the MEC after dinner for a 6:30pm departure. Ladies, Don Johnson wanted me to encourage you to gather together at some time if possible to talk through the morning's material.
- Your Day Alone with God is coming up on Thursday. At breakfast on Thursday morning you will pack a sack lunch to take with you for your noon meal. Bertha will only be preparing lunch in the MEC for the children. Some appointees choose to fast during their Day Alone with God. If you would like to do this please see me privately and I will make a note of it so Bertha knows how many people to plan on for sack lunches. I will have maps for you tomorrow or Wednesday with some ideas of places you can go if you would like to be off campus. If you want to stay on campus let me know and I will see if I can reserve an office for you.
- Tomorrow is the Muslim Community visit. You will be in the heart of a conservative, fundamental Muslim community. Ladies, plan on wearing pants or a long skirt and long sleeve top. Bring your head scarf if you have one. Tim Mindling will bring some along with him in case you need one. Men, casual pants are appropriate. Please no jeans if at all possible. Shoes will be removed when you enter the mosque. Lunch is provided for you. If you are willing to drive, please let me know.
- Tuesday, July 15
- A few reminders for you today….
- Testimony chapel is tomorrow - Randy and Andrea Van Meter (10 minutes) and Ed and Marlu Vencio (20 minutes)
- If you have not had your DNA taken (mouth swabbed) by Ann Baur, make sure you see her soon.
- Day Alone With God is Thursday - if you would like to decline a sack lunch for the noon meal let me know by tomorrow morning break time.
- Wednesday, July 16
- Regional Dinners are tonight! This will be a great time to connect with your Regional Director and fellow teammates who are on home service right now. Plan to arrive at your venue around 5:30pm. I have maps for each group and will place these on the back table in the training room.
- DAWG (Day Alone with God) is tomorrow. I will be praying for each of you as you meet with the LORD. Maps/Directions for various local parks, libraries, coffee shops are on the back table for you to take with you. If you are staying on campus coffee will be available in the IO and in the MEC. Bottles of water will be available in the IO on the snack table.
- At the time of your first departure for the field Warren Janzen sends a letter to your parents/adult children as a means of encouragement and thanks for their willingness to release you to ministry. I have a form available today to fill out and pass around. If the last person to fill in the information can return it to me that would be great. Thanks!
- Friday, July 18
- For those of you who are departing this afternoon or this evening…please make sure you follow the room clean up instructions that are in your notebook. You can also find the same instructions in your room. Your help in leaving your room/bathroom cleaned well is a huge help to us. Thanks!
- Dirty bed sheets are to be put inside a pillow case and placed in the laundry room. You can leave your towels hanging if they are wet, but if they are dry please place them in the laundry room.
- All keys can be turned in to Marcie before your departure. If she is not available, please leave them in your room and make sure your door is locked.
- Those staying on campus until Saturday or Sunday…after you have your room cleaned you can leave your keys in your room, making sure your door is locked.
- Those returning to campus for SYIS…hang on to your room and your keys for that week of training.
- THANK YOU cards are being passed around for Leslie and Bertha. When everyone has signed these could you please return them to Marcie…before lunch would be great.
- For the Ladies….the following documents cover what Dorothy Janzen spoke about at our Ladies Night Out last week.
