The curriculum at Glorieta is equally far from ordinary. Tough issues are tackled head-on with straight talk - uncompromisingly Biblical, laced with grace, and delivered with humility. Granny's Cabin
When Harvey and Lori moved from the Texas Rio Grande Valley to the McKinney area, Lori made sure that whatever home we bought would have room to accommodate Harvey’s mother, who no longer had any family back home. In 1992, Harvey built a small cabin for his mother and she moved in. A week before she died in a nursing home in 2011, she accepted Christ as her Lord and savior. Lori & Harvey decided to restore her cabin and use it as a place to provide free, short term residency to either Christian missionaries who are passing through the area, or those who are in Christian ministry on short term assignments in the area. Transportation, food and other needs will not be provided by Lori and Harvey.

The Haft
Pennsylvania, USA
The Haft passion is building and restoring people who have a desire to discover and live out God’s call in ways that transform the world around them for the glory of God.

Eden Ridge
Fairfield Glade, TN, USA
Our research shows that of the more than seventy-five thousand missionaries who travel through the United States every year, only twelve percent take the time to rest. Many are exhausted when they return to their field of service, yet their work has piled up while they were away. Asked why they don’t take the time to rest, 65% of missionaries said they could not afford a retreat center or similar facility. More than half also said they were not aware of any missionary retreat centers. While there are a few missionary retreat centers or retreat centers that offer discounts to missionaries, they are few and far between.

Baan Sabai Lodge
Aurora, IN, USA
Rest is an important part of God’s plan for his people. It is essential to maintaining spiritual health as well as physical health. But once that health has been compromised, rest becomes absolutely necessary for restoration.

At Paracletos we advocate pre-emptive rest—taking time to get away from the pressures and demands of ministry to spend time with God. Our desire is that every sending church would require its missionaries to schedule regular time for rest and relaxation. Baan Sabai was built to provide a venue for that.

Many times, however, missionaries are worn out or near burn-out. The circumstances of their daily life on the field have beat them down, and they become disheartened, disillusioned or even despondent. That is when a place of refuge can be vital—a place where they can “unload” and “unwind” in a safe environment. Baan Sabai can be such a refuge, where missionaries will find hosts who care deeply for them and who understand what they are going through.

Whether preventive or prescriptive, Baan Sabai was designed and built to provide rest for both body and soul.

Missionary Furlough Retreat Opportunity (West Michigan)

Beginning of the Rest - beginningoftherest@gmail.com
Apiston, TN
Beginning of the Rest is a Christian non-profit that is all about missionaries being refreshed in their relationships as family, well rested in their souls, renewed in their walk with God and ready for the rest of their journey. To this end we desire to create a quiet place for rest, stillness before God and soul care. A welcoming space for all to have a chance to be heard, unpack the realities and paradoxes of missionary life and gain the tools to live and lead from a healthy soul.
